Forms of Space

Spatial configurations—here intervened by a physical object (the artwork)—necessarily alter our aesthetic perception; the gaze and its environment shift in response to what “is there,” occupying a place that is not fixed, but, like words on a page, moves from one margin to another through the gaps left by empty space.
Space becomes object in the work. Or rather: empty space is as important as the object that occupies it. A kind of cosmic suspension produced by images and words.
This syntax of dimension, this territoriality of the object, dissolves binary structures in favor of an infinite freedom of voices, traces, and colors.
Mallarmé designates the gestural mark on the page as a “score.” Here, it is the artwork that draws that silent score.
Let the works belong to the world of things. Let them speak in their mute silence.
